Understanding Pressure Units
What is PSI?
PSI stands for Pounds per Square Inch. It is the standard unit of pressure in the imperial measurement system, commonly used in the United States for tire pressure and other industrial applications.
What is a Bar?
Bar is a metric unit of pressure, though not part of the International System of Units (SI). It is defined as exactly equal to 100,000 Pa (100 kPa). It is widely used in meteorology and for tire pressure in Europe.
What is Atmospheric Pressure (Atm)?
Standard Atmosphere (atm) is a unit of pressure defined as 101,325 Pa. It is approximately equal to the atmospheric pressure at sea level.
How do Pascals relate to other units?
The Pascal (Pa) is the SI unit for pressure. Because it is a very small amount of pressure, the Kilopascal (kPa) is more commonly used in engineering (1 kPa = 1000 Pa).
