Why is Hydration Important?
Water is essential for survival, but staying properly hydrated also improves cognitive function, physical performance, and skin health. Even mild dehydration can cause fatigue, headaches, and reduced concentration.
Signs of Dehydration
- Feeling thirsty (obviously, but don't wait until then!)
- Dark yellow urine
- Dry mouth, lips, or skin
- Headache or dizziness
- Muscle cramps
How Much is Too Much?
While rare, drinking too much water (water intoxication) can be dangerous. It occurs when you drink more water than your kidneys can excrete. Listen to your body; if you are not thirsty, you likely don't need to force water.
